it Is so easy to reduce the stress of the unknown and allow your child the time they desperately need in order to process and reorganize in preparation for the new place you are arriving at.
Simply keep a stack of small pictures in your car of places you usually go to. a picture of your child horseback riding, your child’s kindergarden teacher, the local park, Gymboree, seaside ...etc
show your child the picture and explain that we are driving to the beach together.. or we are on our way to horseback riding class... etc
you can laminate the pictures and attach them with Velcro to the back of the car chair so that your child can look at them on the way and prepare themselves for your next destination. This simple action with reduce stress, fear and also give your child a sense of control and independence.
you can simply take a pillow case and sew the Velcro strips on it and place this over the passenger seat so that you can easily hang the picture in front of your child’s vision.

and drill two holes so that you can hang It on the headrest of the passenger seat. Sew lines of Velcro across it. You can place pictures of your destination here... or even pictures of a water bottle, snack, dummy, doll.. so that your child can easily request these in a non verbal manner during your journey..
