Oodles of Noodles

So so simple and sooooo much fun!...

Cook a packet of pasta according to the simple instructions on the wrapping. You can use any kind of pasta that you want. After the pasta cools down divide them in to 3-4 separate ziplock bags. Into each bag add a few drops of food coloring and mix it by smooshing the closed ziplock bag... once the noodles are evenly colored leave the bags open and let them air dry. You may add olive oil if you desire to create a smooth feeling.

Now the options are endless... place them into a large plastic container and hide balls or LEGO or playmobile people or plastic animals and together with your child enjoy discovering the hidden treasures! While you are playing make sure (in a natural way) that you are facing your child and that each of you are on opposite sides of the container.. this promotes eye contact and you can easily enhance this by simply raising the item that you have found to your eye area.. so that your child will “accidentally” look you in the eye while following the discovered treasure with their eyes... you could also just simply raise the beautiful colored noodles and do a simple game of peek a boo while holding them in front of your face... make sure your voice is full of intonations and very musical... this is another way we get our child’s attention.

When you do receive your child’s eye contact.. naturally say something like :”hi.. I love when you look me in the eyes”. Positive feedback can only be a positive addition to your child’s communication.

there are soooo many other things we can do here... you could draw a circle with eyes and a nose and use the noodles to decorate the mouth and the hair... you could write the ABC with the noodles ...

I will end by reminding you that everything is edible in this colorful project... so if you have a child that put things in their mouth or if you have a child that is a picky eater and you want to expand their menu by playing food games.. this is a perfect project for you.

Have Noodles of Fun!
