These feet were made for feeling and that’s just what they’ll do...

Many of our SPECial kids feel different sensory extremes. Some prefer a soft caress whereas others prefer a very strong cuddle... and some prefer both depending on the time of day and situation. I notice that many of our kid’s often enjoy taking off their shoes and running around barefoot. This is a fabulous way to explore the world around us and the borders of our body. Where does my body end and the wet green grass that I am standing on begin?!... or where do my feet end and the hot surface of the sidewalk on a summer day begin?!...

These fun colorful sensory boards are easy to make and create a fun route to walk from one to another with bare feet.

Purchase a thick white foam board in any art supply shop and a jar of glue with a cheap brush in any hardware store. With the help of a Stanley knife and a metal ruler cut the large board in to 6 equally sized boards. Cover each board with glue and then have fun decorating them with colorful textural surfaces. The options are endless!! Ponpons, sponges, straws, velvet material, bubble wrap, cotton wool .... etc etc

Enjoy endless magical moments as your child discovers the world through their super sensational feet.

Your child may look up at you to share the experience and make sure that you see that they are enjoying the textural experience... or you may discuss the different textures... you might decide to use a few of the boards as part of an obstacle course that connect to a beam or chairs they need to walk across...or you may just sit together on the floor and allow your child to choose between two textures and allow them to rub their feet on the chosen one...

How many boards you make and how you use them is endless and open to you and your divine child’s endless imagination.

Have fun!!
