A number is a symbol! STOP...lets go back to the basics...before words, before symbols, pictures and signs! Learning the symbols 1,2,3,4,5,6,7,8,9....... is just a matter of practice and repetition. But feeling the numbers is a different story all together! Start from the basic senses... feel the clay, dough, plasticine or anything you want to quantisize. Together with your child you will learn to count properly and not just because you were programmed to do so and have a good memory. At a later stage, if you must... you may add symbols and words...One Two Three.....
And most of all: ENJOY the natural process
